1776年７月４日にアメリカ独立宣言が交付されて、今年で236年。
昨晩も午後９時半からマンハッタン西側のハドソン川で４万発の花火が打ち上げられ、街中は一気に祝賀ムードに包まれた。
今年は久しぶりに生で花火を見ようと、早い時間から場所取りに出かけたが、溢れるような人混みでごった返し、路上ではとてもカメラを構えるような状況ではない。
打ち上げ花火の轟音が聞こえ出しても、目の前のビルが邪魔して、天空には煙の余韻が広がるのみ。
諦めて自宅に戻ろうかと地下鉄の駅に向かいかけたところ、見ず知らずの人が声をかけてくれた。
「私の家の屋上にいらっしゃい。一緒に独立記念日を祝いましょう」
こんな懐の大きさが、やっぱりアメリカならではだ。
摩天楼を背景に打ち上がる花火は最高に華やかで、このところ沈んでいた私の心に希望の光を灯してくれた。
世界一美しい都会、ニューヨークの街でこんな花火が見られるということに感謝。
アメリカ合衆国、236歳の誕生日おめでとう。
After the Declaration of Independence of the United States has been issued on July 4 in 1776, it has been passed 236 years this year.
There had 40,000 fireworks on the Hudson River at the west of the
Manhattan from 9:30 pm Last night, and the city was wrapped in a festive
mood at once.
We went out to take place from early hours to see the live of the fireworks
this year, but it crowded with such overflowing crowd, was not quite in
such a situation holding the camera on the street.
We could see only the sky with the afterglow of smoke spread, even
hearing the roar of fireworks out, with disturb of the tall buildings in front of us.
When we almost gave up and applied toward the subway station to go back
our home, a total stranger gave us a voice.
"Come to the roof of my apartment. Let's celebrate Independence Day
together”.
This was the thing that I liked America.
Fireworks out against the backdrop of spectacular skyscrapers were so
beautiful.
That gave me the light of hope in my heart, I had been bad mood recently
though.
Thanks to that I saw the fireworks in this city New York, where was the
world's most beautiful city.
Happy Birthday to the United States of America, 236 years old !!
