ニューヨークで人気のエンターテイメント「THE RIDE」。
劇場風に横並びに座る観光バスに乗って、ミッドタウンを旋回する。
バスが止まると、街中に仕込んであるパフォーマーが突然現れて、
バレエやダンスを踊ったり、ジャズ演奏を始めたりする。
すっかりニューヨーク名物となった光景だけれど、
偶然そのシーンに遭遇したニューヨーカーが巻き込まれて、
一緒に踊ったり、歌ったりするのがまた面白い。
パフォーマーとして活躍するダンサー中澤利彦氏。
悲願のグリーンカードを取得した後、しばらく日本国内の凱旋に出るという。
パフォーマンス時間以外、観光バスの運転手からの指令を待っている間は、
長い長い「待機」になるため、そこに行けば彼に会える。
日本凱旋前の最終日、彼の友人が次々と、そこを訪れた。
面と向かうとシャイで口数も少ないが、その裏に秘める強い意思。
路上に出ると、水を得た魚のように、クールに踊りだす。
彼の実績は、確実に日本人ダンサーの地位を上げたきただろう。
日本での新しい挑戦も、ずっと応援していたい。
