敬愛するピアニスト西川悟平氏。
ジストニアという難病を抱えながらも、動く７本の指で鍵盤を叩く。
私と同じ頃にニューヨークに渡り、ずっと異国の地で奮闘してきたけれど、
昨年から日本にいる時間をかなり多くして、新しい挑戦を続けている。
日本全国で演奏をしながら、週末は銀座のサロンでコンサートを開催。
彼の音色を聴くために、ファンが集うあの空間が心地良い。
20年ぶりに新年を日本で迎えた西川氏、初詣の祈願で
「たくさんの人に感動を与えるインフルエンサーになりたい」と唱えたら、
翌週はまんまとインフルエンザに罹って、コンサートを中止を余儀なくされた。
ようやく復帰した第一弾が、この日のコンサート。
いつも通りのトークもさることながら、
右手が痙攣しながらも、作品を引き通す彼の意識の崇高さに、
私はいつも通り、涙が出てしまう。
誰かに勇気を与える存在になること。
目標は、まだずっと先にある。
