日本の地下鉄は、乗換え用の連絡通路が充実している。
雨が降った時には、地上に出なくても、
二駅分くらい地下道で移動出来るところもある。
ニューヨークの地下には、大きな駅でも必要以上の通路はない。
階段を降りた先に、デリとシューフィッターがあるだけで、
少しでも早く、地上の空気を吸いたいと思ってしまう。
しかしようやく最近事情が変わってきた。
暗く閑散とした通路に流行りのショップやカフェがオープン。
雨や寒さしのぎ以外でも、地下街を通るのが楽しくなる。
開発はまだまだこれからだけれど、
日本のデパ地下のような空間が、もっと生まれてほしい。

In the dark and quiet passage, vogue shops and cafes have been opened.
Other than escape from rain and cold, it makes fun to pass through the
underground mall.
Development will be continued more.
Hope such as the basement store of Japanese department store will be born.
