気が付けば、のべ15年以上、米語圏で暮らしている。
バイリンガルではないし、まともに英語を習ったことはないけれど。
幼い頃から音楽に囲まれていたせいか、そんなに音感は悪くない。
たまに子供達に直されるけれど、発音もそんなにひどくない、かな。
しかし、昨夜も聞き返された。
「紅茶の種類は何が良いの？」と。
そうじゃない。
「カップオブティー」じゃなくて「カプチーノ」なの。
まだまだ道は険しい。
I realized that I have been living in the US-speaking countries, a total
of more than 15 years.
I am not a bilingual and also I do not learn decent English.
Perhaps because I have been surrounded by music from an early age,
I assume my pitch is not so bad.
And though occasionally it is corrected by my kids, but my pronunciation
is not so bad too.
However, I was asked again last night.
"What's kind of tea you would like?".
It was not so.
It was not a "cup of tea" but "Cappuccino."
Still the steep road would wait for me.
