福島県には、江戸時代から350年の歴史を刻む大堀相馬焼という特産品がある。
二重構造という特殊な手法で作られた陶器は、一定の温度を保つ優れもの。
その特徴ある湯呑みを手に取ったことがある日本人も、少なくないだろう。
300年の歴史を持つ松永窯の４代目・松永武士氏は、
幼い頃からのトラウマもあり、窯元の継承には興味がなかった。
学生時代に中国とカンボジアで起業し、その目は海外だけに向いていた。
ところが、2011年東北大震災の被害で、当時25あった窯元が壊滅。
300年の歴史を持つ松永窯も、放射線汚染区域から追い出され、
新しい土地に移って再興か廃業するかの選択を迫られていた。
４代目松永氏は、海外を経験して学ぶことがたくさんあったからこそ、
故郷の福島に戻って、相馬焼の再興に努める決心をした。
海外の視野をもつ彼だからこそ、出来ることがあるはずだと。
毎年ニューヨークで開催される「TOGETHER FOR 311 追悼式典」で、
４代目松永氏は、復興にかける思いを粛々と話した。
いつか彼が再興の道を開いて、世界に羽ばたいて欲しいと
エールを送ったニューヨーカーも多かったに違いない。
震災から７年が経過した現在、大堀相馬焼は10軒の窯元が再建を果たした。
受注がうなぎ登りに増えて、今ではその生産が追いつかないほど。
松永窯も「IKKON」という新しい発想の商品を開発して、
日本とアジアを中心に、海外でも高い評価を得るようになった。
来月には「IKKON」のニューヨークデビューが実現する。
あの時、皆さんの前でスピーチした青年が、ニューヨークに帰ってくることを、
ぜひたくさんの人に知って欲しいから。

Mr. Takeshi Matsunaga, 4th generation of Matsunaga pottery with 300 years of history,
There was also a trauma from a young age, he was not interested in inheriting his family business.
When he started a business in China and Cambodia in his age of students, his heart was suitable only for overseas.
However, due to the 2011 Tohoku great earthquake damage, the 25 pottery factories were then devastated.
Matsunaga pottery, which has 300 years of history, was also kicked out of the radiation contaminated area,
they were forced to choose whether to move to a new land and rebuild or go out of business.
Mr. Matsunaga 4th generation, because there were many things to learn by experiencing overseas,
he returned to his home town Fukushima and decided to try to restore Soma pottery.
It is because he is from overseas perspective that there should be something that can be done.
At the "TOGETHER FOR 311 Memorial Ceremony" held in New York every year,
Mr. Matsunaga 4th generation talked seriously about the thought to be reconstructed.
There must have been a lot of New Yorkers who sent Yale that he will open the way for revival and want him to debut to the world someday.
Today, seven years have passed since the earthquake disaster, Obori Soma pottery was rebuilt by 10 factories.
The order has increased to climb, and now it cannot catch up with its production.
Matsunaga pottery has also developed a new idea called "IKKON"
It began to gain high appraisal abroad, especially in Japan and Asia.
Next month IKKON's New York debut will come true.
