「JCAT, Japanese Contemporary Artists Team in New York」という
海外で活動しようとする日本人アーティストの窓口を担う団体がある。
個人的な友人でもある日本人女性がディレクターを務め、
所属するアーティストは数百名。大きな組織である。
海外で展示実績を作りたいというアーティストにとって、
これ以上の心強いサポーターはいないだろう。
一定の審査を終えて、実費を支払えば、ニューヨークに出展できる。

福岡からニューヨークにやってきた後藤梨沙さん。
アートバトル・日本大会、第２回目優勝という実力の持ち主。
彼女がJCATのグループ展に出展すると連絡を受け、チェルシーの画廊へ。
「スマイリーエキシビション」の最終日にギリギリ間に合った。
私は見過ごしてしまったけれど、レセプションの様子を伺う。
音楽に合わせてダンスを踊りながら、キャンバスに描いていく。
真っ白な衣装もキャンバスも、最後は見事に色付いて、
「カラリズム」という独自の世界観が完成する。
全身を使ったパフォーマンスもユニークだけれど、
作品の一部を買いたいというユニークなオファーを受けたことも、
アートに慣れ親しんでいるニューヨークという街ならでは。
問題は、この先である。
星の数ほどいるアーティストの中で、さらに活動を広げるために、
何をすべきか、どこにアピールしていくか。
まず、その土地を見て感じて、友達を作って、たくさん空気を吸う。
丁寧に人を繋ぎ、感性を育み、その土地と人をリスペクトする。
そんな想いをきちんと理解して、世界に挑戦していくアーティストたち。
未来へ羽ばたく姿を、私はこちら側から応援したいと思う。

While dancing with the music, she draws on the canvas.
Both pure white costumes and canvas are colorful finally at the end,
A unique world view called "Colorhythm" will be completed.
Her performance using the whole body is unique enough,
She also received a unique offer to buy a part of the work.
It happened in the city called New York, familiar with art.
The future may be hard.
Among the artists who have much talents, in order to further expand activities,

First of all, artists need seeing the land, making friends, sucking up a lot of air.
They should carefully connect people, nurture sensibility, respect the land and people.
If artists understand such feelings properly and challenge the world.
