私は日米教育の違いは、パスタとチーズに喩えられると思っている。
束から１本飛び出しているパスタを、すっと引き揚げようとするのが米国式。
形の悪いチーズを削ぎ落として、表面を綺麗に整えるのが日本式。
ある一定の枠の中に収めておこうとする学校教育にうまく馴染めずに、
不登校になっている児童・生徒のために、東大が提供しているプログラム。
2014年にスタートした異才発掘プロジェクトROCKETの発表会に参加した。
知的能力が高く、自己の能力に貪欲過ぎて、集団学習には強調できない。
ROCKETに所属している子どもたちには、共通して「志」と「こだわり」がある。
その「志」と「こだわり」を引き揚げようとしてあげる環境と予算が、
それを必要としている子ども達すべてに届けられるわけではないけれど、
この画期的な試みは確実に「新しい価値を生み出す素質」を引き揚げている。
世に伝える絵画を描き続ける17歳青年の堂々としたプレゼンを聴きながら、
まもなく17歳になる我が娘は、社会に何を伝えられるのだろうと考える。
舞台は日本か米国か。
2020年、新しい活動を発進させた。
手探りのスタートだけれど、共に歩いてください。
I think the difference between US and Japanese education can be compared to "pasta and cheese".
The American style is to pull up one piece of pasta from the bunch.
The Japanese style is to scrape off badly shaped cheese and clean the surface.
There is a program provided by the University of Tokyo for school refusal that is for kids without getting used to school education that tries to stay within a certain frame.
We participated the presentation of the unique talent discovery project ROCKET (Room Of Children with Kokorozashi( ambition) and Extra-ordinary Talents) which started in 2014.
The children with high intellectual ability, too greedy for self-ability, cannot be emphasized in group learning.
Children who belong to ROCKET have a common ambition and commitment.
It is not delivered to all children who need the environment and budget for trying to pull up the “ambition” and “commitment”.
But this groundbreaking attempt is certainly pulling out "the ability to create new value".
While listening to the dignified presentation of a 17-year-old youth who continues to draw paintings that will be passed on to the world,
I wonder that what my daughter, who will turn 17 years old soon, can be passed something on to society.
Is the stage in Japan or the United States?
We've just launched a new activity in 2020.
It's a groping start, but please walk together.
