2019年初秋、「ミュージカル・未完の贈り物」が上演された。
東京で1200名のお客様を動員、次なる地方公演へと駒を進めようとした時、
大変な事態が発覚した。
プロデューサーと脚本家の間で金銭的なトラブルがあって、
たくさんの人が巻き込まれ、すべてが暗礁に乗り上げた。
私と社団法人の仲間は、脚本家を守るために必死に盾になったけれど、
その過程を知らない長年の友人に非難され、失ったものは大きい。
小さな声でささやいていたメッセージが、風に紛れて消えそうになった時、
前作で主役を演じてくれた俳優と、彼女の連れてきた仲間が名乗り出てくれた。
「美香さんの想いを、一緒に世に伝えていきたいと思います」
制作チームの座組は決まったけれど、コロナ禍で何も進まなかった昨秋。
著書ありきの舞台化とはいえ、こちらは原作の使用許諾をするだけで、
あとは制作チームがすべてをハンドリングする。
題材として取り扱いやすくはないテーマを、脚本家はどう調理するのだろうか。
悶々としたまま過ぎていくコロナ禍、世の中からエンタメが排除されていく。
制限の多い中で、チームは「朗読ミュージカル」という表現方法を選択した。
「ダスク」という新しい作品名に命を吹き込み、
前作とはまったく違う、まったく新しい作品の誕生が決定した。
そこには、かつての脚本家の作品を守るための愛があったことを、
今、旧友に伝えたい。
そして「ビエンナーレ」という若き世代の制作チームが、
この作品にかけてくれた想いを、私はもっと伝えていこうと心に決めた。
In the early fall of 2019, "The musical, Mikan no Okurimono" was staged.
The show drew 1,200 people in Tokyo and moved on to the next round of regional performances.
We found a complex situation then.
There was a financial dispute between the producer and the playwright.
A lot of people got involved, and everything came to a standstill.
My colleagues in the association and I tried our best to shield the screenwriter.
However, I was accused by long-time friends who didn't know about the process, and I lost a lot of my treasure.
When the message I had been whispering in a small voice seemed to disappear in the wind, the actor who played the leading role in the previous film and the friends she brought with her came forward.
"We would like to share your thoughts with the world together, Mika."
The production team has activated, but nothing was going on last autumn due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the stage adaptation was based on a book, we only needed to obtain permission to use the original work.
The production team will handle everything else.
I wondered how the scriptwriter would handle the theme, which is not easy to operate as a subject.
The time flew by with the COVID-19 pandemic in agony, and people eliminated entertainment from the world.
With so many restrictions, the team chose the "reading with music" method of expression.
They breathed life into the new name of the work, "Dusk.
The team decided to create entirely new work, completely different from the previous one.
I want to tell my old friend now that there was a sympathy love for protecting the work of the former playwright.
And I made up my mind to tell more about the feelings that the production team of a young generation "Biennale" had put into this work.
