W杯優勝の経験も持つ大ベテラン・鮫島彩選手。
日本のベストディフェンダーとしてキャリアは長いけれど、
母娘ほど年齢差のある私にとっては、可愛い妹のような存在。
５年前に、彼女と初めてニューヨークで出会った時、
怪我で負傷したのは身体だけでなく、きっと心もスランプだった。
外の世界に無頓着な私は、何も考えずに、彼女と普通に接していた。
彼女が見たいもの、私が見せたいもの、普通の会話を楽しんだ。
彼女の帰国後も交流が続き、私のイベントに来てくれたり、
一緒に御飯を食べたり、仲間とカラオケに行ったこともあった。
６月のW杯、決勝トーナメント初戦で惜敗した後、
彼女から、初夏に日本で会いたいと連絡をいただいた。
「美香さんに受け取っていただきたいものがあるんです」
彼女と再会した時、手渡された手紙とユニフォーム。
そこに記された彼女の想いが、心に突き刺さった。
どんな時にも、どんな人にも、真っ直ぐに向き合うこと。
私はこれからもずっと、彼女を応援し続ける。

For me who is different in age like mother and daughter, she is like a cute little sister.
When I first met her in New York five years ago,
It was not only the body that was injured, but the mind was also slump.
I faced her casually with her without thinking.
I enjoyed what she wanted to see, what I wanted to show, and normal conversation.
After her return to Japan, the exchange continued and she came to my event,
We went out together and went to karaoke with friends.
After defeating in the first round of the final tournament in the last World Cup,
She contacted me to asked to meet in Japan in early summer.
“There is something I want to give you.”
Letters and uniforms handed to me when I met her again.
Her thoughts written there pierced my heart.
I face up to anyone seriously at any time.
I will continue to support her.
