19年前のあの日のことを思い出しながら、私は欧州に降り立った。
久しぶりのシンガポール航空は実に快適で、まずドイツ・フランクフルトへ。
そこからルフトハンザ航空に乗り継いで、ベルギーのブリュッセルまで。
ブリュッセル空港で時間を潰していると、敬子さんからSOS連絡。
借りてきたWi-Fiの調子が悪いため、待ち合わせが難しいかもしれないと。
ところが、到着ゲートから出てきた敬子さんはニコニコ顔で
「助けていただいた日本人がすごい大物で、ビックリしちゃったー」と。
寄り添って下さったのが、某自動車会社の会長さんだったというから驚き。
さすがに、彼女は、凄い引き寄せ力を持っている。
ローカル電車に乗って、アントワープ中央駅に到着すると、
杉原伸生氏が、満面の笑顔でお迎えにきて下さっていた。
そのまま彼の御自宅にお招きいただき、奥様の手作り料理とワインを堪能。
地球の裏側で、家族のように温かく迎え入れて下さる御夫妻のお人柄と、
私たちをこの場に導いて下さった運命に、ただ感謝の気持ちで一杯になる。
「人として正しいことをやる」
「目の前に困っている人がいたら手を差し伸べよう」
杉原千畝氏の偉業に、私たちはたくさんのことを学んでいるけれど、
御子息・伸生氏の御尽力から、「正しく伝えること」の大切さを改めて思う。
たくさんの出会いの中で、伸生氏夫妻に巡り会えたことが奇跡。
アントワープの街で、愛溢れるおもてなしを受けながら、
100年後にもこの地球が平和で美しい星でありますようにと願う夜。
Recalling that day 19 years ago, I landed in Europe.
Singapore Airlines was really comfortable, I transited at Frankfurt, Germany.
From there, I transferred to Lufthansa to Brussels, Belgium.
While I was waiting for Keiko at Brussels Airport, she called me with SOS.
"The borrowed Wi-Fi doesn't work well, so I may be difficult to meet up."
However, Keiko came out of the arrival gate with a smiley face.
"I was so surprised that the Japanese who helped me was a big game."
I was surprised to hear that he was a chairman of the big car company.
As expected, she has a great pulling power.
We took a local train and arrive at Antwerp Central Station.
Mr. Nobuki Sugihara welcomed us with a big smile.
He invited us to his home and we enjoyed his wife's homemade food and wine.
On the other side of the earth, receiving their hospitality who welcomed us like a family,
I was just grateful for the fate that led us to this place.

We have learned a lot from Chiune Sugihara's feat,
From the effort of Mr. Nobuki Sugihara, I think again about the importance of “to convey correctly".
It was a miracle that we met Mr. and Mrs. Nobuki in a lot of encounters.
While receiving a hospitality full of love in the city of Antwerp,
It was a night that we wish that this earth will be a peaceful and beautiful star 100 years later.
