でも事実を綴った作品は、そうあってはならない部分が大きい。
原作部分には一切の脚色を加えずに、きちんとメッセージを伝えて欲しい。
それが、私が彼女にお願いしたひとつの条件であった。
事実関係だけでなく、細かい言葉遣いまで、嘘があってはならないのは、
実在する人物と歩いてきた軌跡があるドキュメンタリーであるということ。
そのために創られた、人為的なストーリーなんかじゃないということ。
事実だけを叙述した本を読んだ母娘のストーリーが交錯する。
セリフに感情を、音楽にメッセージを吹き込む。
ミュージカルという表現方法を選んだ演出家の意図を確かめながら、
手探りで脚本を整えていく作業が、ようやく形になった。
初めての顔合わせと本読みの日。
私はきっと他の誰よりも緊張して、その場にいた。
「それまで台本を黙読しかできなかった」という主役の今泉りえさんが、
「生まれてくれてありがとう」の一言を涙ながらに絞り出した時。
アイドルの側面しか知らなかった伊倉愛美さんが、本をしっかり読破して、
最初のシーンの大切な言葉を丁寧に大切に発した時。
そこに集まったすべてのキャストとスタッフの皆さんが作り出す、
愛溢れる空気がとてもあたたかく思えた時。
すべてをこの方たちに託してみようと、心を決めた。
ひとりよがりの自叙伝ではなく、次の世代が新しいメッセージを加えて繋いでいくこと。
それはきっと「アートで世界を繋げていく」ということでもあると思うから。
