ニューヨーク市内の公立中高では、３月半ばにトライアルがあって、
ロックダウン後すぐに、オンラインでの授業が始まった。
子どもたちは、小学校でパソコンの導入をすべて学んでいた。
中高では日常的な課題提出も、オンラインでやることに慣れているから、
親世代が思うほどのトラブルもなく、授業がスタートしたようだった。
ZOOMではなく、グーグルクラスルームというアプリを使用。
朝８時半から10時までに、クラスルームに出席のサインインをする。
その日の授業一覧がリストアップされている画面から、課題をピックアップ。
新しい過程に入る時は、教師が作成した例題やプリントを見る。
担当教師が設定した「オフィスアワー」に質問をすると、回答が返ってくる。
毎日何かしらの課題提出期限があるので、ほぼ１日中パソコンを触っている。
気が付けばいつも、クラスメイトとチャットしているのが気になるけれど、
一緒に宿題をやっているというのを、信じてあげよう。
我が家はゲームアプリを一切入れていないので、あまり道は外れていないはず。
今日の日本語補習校のオンライン授業は、ZOOMなのでさぼれない。
学校と職員の皆様の迅速で真摯な応対に、頭が下がる。
オンライン授業に慣れてきた娘は、このまま学校が閉鎖でも良いと言う。
運動好きな長男と次男は、やはり友達と一緒にスポーツをやりたいと。
学校生活で必要なのは、休み時間に友達とくだらない話をしたり、
トラブルがあった時に、仲間と一緒に解決する方法を模索すること。
泣いても笑っても、時間は同じように過ぎていく。
ロックダウンの続くニューヨーク。
子どもたちがコロナで何を学ぶのか。
失った時間は、二度と取り戻せない。
At public middle and high schools in New York City, there had a system trial in the middle of March.
Soon after the lockdown, online classes have began.
The children had learned all about the introduction to computers in primary school.
In middle and high school, they are used to doing daily assignment submissions online, so
The class seemed to have started without as much trouble as the parent generation would have liked.
Instead of using ZOOM, they use an app called Google Classroom.
They sign in for attendance in the classroom between 8:30am and 10am,
and pick up the assignment from the screen that class lists of the day.
When entering a new process, they look at the examples and handouts created by the teacher.
If they ask a question at an "office hour" set by their teacher, they will receive an answer.
They have some kind of assignment due every day, so they spend almost all day in front of the computer.
Though I always find themselves chatting with classmates,
I would like to believe that they are doing their homework together.
My kids' computers don't include any gaming apps at all, so I believe they might not be too far off the right way.
Today's online class of Japanese school uses ZOOM, so they can't miss it.
We appreciate the school and staff for their prompt and sincere response.
My second daughter, who has become accustomed to online classes, says it's okay if the school continues to be closed.
My sons are very athletic and want to play sports with their friends.
I think all they need to do in school is chatting with your friends at recess and, or finding a way to solve it with your peers when they have trouble.
Whether we cry or laugh, time passes in the same way.
The lockdown in New York continues still.
What will the children learn with COVID-19 ?
The time lost can never be regained.
