東西で３時間の時差がある米国大陸。
日系人の多くは東海岸か西海岸に居住していて、中南西部に行く機会はそう多くはない。
乗務員時代にテキサス州ダラスには何度かフライトしたが、オーバーナイトの滞在では外に観光に行く時間など皆無だった。
1963年11月22日、リー・ハーヴェイ・オズワルド容疑者は、この建物（教科書倉庫）の６階から第35代米国大統領ジョンF家ケネディ氏を狙撃したとされる。
２日後に容疑者が別の容疑者（ジャック・ルビー）に射殺され、暗殺事件の謎はいまだに解明されていないが、折しもその日は日米のテレビ中継衛星通信実験中であり、私の母でさえもその瞬間の映像を忘れることができないという。
それからちょうど50年たった今月12日、ジョンFケネディ元大統領の長女、キャサリン・ケネディ女史が駐日米国大使に任命された。
オバマ大統領がこの時期に、キャサリン女史を採択した意義は深い。
テキサスといえば地ビールとステーキ肉を楽しむのが定番だが、この地を表敬訪問する人々も後を絶たない。
JFKは米国民にとって永遠のヒーローの一人なのだ。

Even my mother was not possible to forget the image of that moment, just
so happened.
Then just 50 years later, 12th November, Ms. Catherine Kennedy, eldest
daughter of John F Kennedy President, was appointed U.S. Ambassador
to Japan.
The thing that President Obama has adopted Ms.Catherine this time was
significant.
A constant seller of Texas was to enjoy a steak and local beer and also
people will have unending visit to the land as a courtesy to JFK.
He is one of the heroes in the US forever.
