90年代後半にNYで知り合った友人らのグループが、
イスラエルのブランドSABONを日本に導入して10年が経過した。
当時のコンペには、いくつかの大手商社が参加していたけれど、
たった数年で何億という投資額を回収したスキルは、
まさに少数精鋭のブレイン仲間が企画をした賜物だった。
SABON JAPANの10周年を記念して、Decadeシリーズが発表された。
オリエンタルな甘さの中にも、どこか艶やかな大人を感じる香り。
そこから受けたインスピレーションを、さらにアートで表現するという試み。
西村麻里さんのライブペイントが始まると、観衆は静かに見守った。
制作風景を直に見せるライブペインティングは、いまでは珍しくないけれど、
出来た作品をそのまま献上できる完成度の高さは秀逸だ。
描き始めは、落ち着いたトーンで、大人っぽい風合いだと見て取れた。
そこに生命を吹き込まれたように、艶っぽい鳥が目の前で羽ばたくと、
それは女性らしいフェロモン漂う作品になっていた。
暑い夏の日、目黒川沿いのアトリエサボンに、不思議な風が流れるのを感じた。
