LAに到着した日、偶然にもトランプ大統領と同じホテルに滞在した。
大統領の動きは直前まで公開されないから、
ダウンタウンの各所で道路封鎖されている理由が分からず、
空港到着からホテルに入るまでに３時間も所用した。
翌日の打ち合わせを終えた後、LA在住の友人が会いに来てくれた。
しばしの逢瀬を楽しんだ後、彼女はまた職場に戻って行った。
相変わらず厳戒態勢の路上には、騎馬隊が列をなしていた。
翌朝も周囲の封鎖で、タクシーも横付けできないから、
打ち合わせ会場まで、歩いて向かった。
グーグルマップで27分とあったけれど、結局小一時間かけて会場に到着。
途中でたくさんのホームレスに声をかけられた。
ダウンタウンを歩いたのは、15年ぶりぐらいだろうか。
やはり勝手のわからない土地を歩くのは、ちょっと怖い。
学生時代に留学したサンフランシスコの街を思い浮かべ、
あの頃のピュアな気持ちを、もう一度リマインドする。
久しぶりの西海岸は、私にいろんなことを教えてくれた。
隙間時間に会いに来てくれる友人一人一人が、とても愛おしい。
On the day I arrived at LA, I accidentally stayed at the same hotel as President Trump.
Since the president's movements were not released until just before,
I did not know the reason why the road was blockade at various places in downtown.
It took three hours to get to the hotel from the airport arrival.
After finishing the prep meeting for the next day, a friend living in LA came to see me.
After enjoying our meeting for a while, she went back to work again.
The cavalry team was still in line on the street.
The next morning as well, I could not get taxi along by the surrounding blockades,
I went to the meeting place by walk.
It was 27 minutes on Google Map, but eventually I arrived at the venue about in an hour.
I was spoken by many homeless people on the way.
It was the first time in 15 years that I walked downtown.
It was a bit scary to walk on a land that I did not understand beforehand.
I reminded the city of San Francisco that I studied abroad,
and I thought the pure feeling of those days.
The west coast after a long interval taught me various things.
Every one of my friends who came to see me in the gap time was very lovely.
