マンハッタンの公共道路には、たいてい路駐ができるスペースがある。
場所によってはチケット制であったり、曜日制であったり。
路駐によって道幅は狭くなり、明らかに交通渋滞の原因になっているけれど、
車両数に対して圧倒的に駐車スペースが少ないから、
路駐制度がなければ、マンハッタンの経済は動かないのだろう。
自宅前のレキシントン通りに、数日前から「路駐禁止」の張り紙が貼られた。
案の定、昨日からハリウッド映画のロケが始まっている。
大きなコンテナ車の中には、たくさんの衣装や休憩所もある。
野外テントが張られ、スタッフには終日ケータリング食が賄われている。
撮影の舞台となっているダイナーは、まさに古き良き時代のアメリカ。
こんな空間が今でも残っていることが、この街の誇り。
ここに来れば、「ザ・アメリカン」な食事にありつける。
映画館のスクリーンに、よく知る光景が映るのは、なんともこそばゆい。
日本映画「シン・ゴジラ」大ヒットの原因も、きっとそこにあったのだろうか。
On Manhattan's public road, there is usually a space where you can park.
Depending on the location, it may be a ticket system or a weekly system.
Road width narrows by roadway, obviously causing traffic congestion.
Since the parking space is overwhelmingly less with respect to the number of vehicles,
Manhattan's economy will not move without a system of parking.
A few days ago, "No Parking" sticker was stuck on Lexington Avenue in front of
our apartment.
Sure enough, the shooting of Hollywood movies has started since yesterday.
There were many costumes and rest areas in a large container car.
An outdoor tent was set up, and the catering food was financed all day to the staff.
The diner which is the stage of filming is exactly the United States of good old days.
It is pride of this city that such a space still remains.
If you come here you can have a "The American" meal.
The fact that the scene we know well is reflected on the screen of the movie theater,
is absolutely fun.
The big hit of Japanese movie “Shin Godzilla" may have been the same reason surely.
