ベルギーの人々は、「フレミッシュ」という言語を話す。
現在のオランダ南部、ベルギー西部、フランス北部にかけての一帯、
「フランドル地方で話されるオランダ語」のことをいう。
イギリス人作家ウィーダ原作の「フランダースの犬」という作品は、
その舞台となった「フランドル地方」ではあまり知られていないとう事実。
日本のアニメ文化の偉大さを改めて感じながら、大聖堂を参拝した。
主人公・ネロ少年と年老いた大型犬パトラッシュは、物語の最後に、
アントワープ聖母大聖堂のルーベンスの絵画の前で行き倒れる。
ネロがずっと憧れていた「キリストの昇架」と「キリストの降架」の二作は、
当時、幕がかけられて、有料でしか拝観できなかったらしい。
あくまでも物語だけれども、あまりにも切ないストーリー。
ネロが母の面影を探したという「聖母被昇天」のマリア様を眺めながら、
傷ついた子ども達が、せめて自国で母に会えますようにと願う。
大聖堂では、夕刻の礼拝に参列。
神父様のフレミッシュは子守唄のようで、時差ボケの頭には難解過ぎたけれど、
20年ぶりに訪れたアントワープの街は、たくさんの想いに気付かせてくれた。
フランドル地方を代表するルーベンスの生家に寄れたことも、大きな旅土産。
ちなみに、杉原伸生氏の御家庭では、皆が英語で会話をする。
ベルギー国内でもすべて英語が通じるのは本当にありがたく、
同時に欧州文化の偉大さをつくづく感じた。
People in Belgium speak the language "Flemish".

While watching Maria of "The Assumption of Our Lady" that Nello looked for her mother's memory,
I hoped that the injured children at least see their mothers in their own country.
In the cathedral, we attended the evening service.
Flemish of the Father seemed to be a lullaby, and it was too difficult for my brain of jet lag,
The city of Antwerp, which I visited for the first time in 20 years, made me realize the many thoughts.
It was a great gift that we stopped by the Rubens birthplace representing the Flemish region.
By the way, among the family of Mr. Nobuki Sugihara, everyone talks in English.
I really appreciated the English was in general in all Belgium,
At the same time I felt the greatness of European culture obsessed.
