埼玉由来の前玉神社鎮座する⑩浅間塚（せんげんづか）古墳
Sengen-zuka burial mound (10), where Maedama Shrine, the name of Saitama Prefecture, is located
比較的最近まで古墳なのか、後世の塚なのか不明だったが、
平成9・10年の発掘調査で幅10ｍに及ぶ幅の周濠が確認され、
古墳であることがほぼ明らかになった。
しかしながら正式に、さきたま古墳群の仲間に入れてもらえていないようだ。
Until relatively recently, it was unclear whether it was a burial mound or a later mound, but excavations in 1997 and 1998 confirmed a 10-meter wide perimeter moat, making it almost certainly a burial mound.
However, it seems that it has not been officially included in the Sakatama Kofun group.
古墳の急階段を上っていくと、中腹に浅間神社があり、
墳頂が前玉（さきたま）神社となっている。

円墳で墳径58ｍ・高さ8.7ｍ

埴輪はないようだが、古墳南西部の絵馬堂付近に
石室の石材と思われる角閃石（かくせんせき）安山岩がある。

若王子古墳は明治の発掘調査時には、長さ95ｍの前方後円墳で
後円部直径44ｍ・高さ7.4ｍ、前方部幅56ｍ・高さ3ｍもあった立派なものだった。

若王子古墳があった若王子古墳群は、同古墳ほかに円墳7基が存在していたが、

この古墳の墳頂に鎮座する前玉神社は、
平安時代の『延喜式神名帳』に名があるくらい歴史があり、
現在の埼玉県の名前につながっているとのこと。

ご祭神は前玉彦命・前玉姫命の二柱であり、
人の身を守り、幸福をもたらすこともあって
恋愛成就を願う参拝者も多いようだ。
The two deities are Sakitamahiko-no-mikoto and Sakitama-hime no-mikoto, who are said to protect people and bring happiness, and many worshippers come to pray for success in love.
近年、境内に暮らす4匹の看板猫をモチーフにした御朱印が人気を集めている。
