(Required) Cultural Properties Administration

In charge of the class were Professor A (a graduate of Waseda University who is excavating in Saitama Prefecture) and Mr. k (a graduate student of Waseda University).

The class was on how to make an excavation report to replace the ruins that are lost due to excavation!

1, Surveying (x, y, z) practice

The basic approach is to work in groups of three.

 ・Surveying (x, y, z) practice using a surveying instrument called a total station
Surveying (x, y, z) practice using a surveying instrument called a total station.

2,Practical training for report writing

・Actual measurement of artifacts (from 3D to 2D)
 ・Tracing (drawing of measured drawings)
 ・Plating of illustrations
 ・Photographing
 ・Three-dimensional measurement of archaeological sites

Grades (P, C, B, A, A+) were determined by class attendance and the level of mastery of the class content.

Impressions: Half of the practical training was done outdoors, and some of it was done while directly touching the Jomon pottery, which was very practical and fun to learn.

The explanations given by Dr. A and Mr. k, a graduate student, were very easy to understand and each of the 15 classes flew by.

However, he said that it is difficult to find a site near the university in Tokyo. It may be difficult for undergraduates to find the time and schedule, but personally, I would be happy if you could incorporate a camp-like experience even if you have to pay for it.
