兵庫県加西市にある玉丘(たまおか)古墳 (9)
This time I will introduce you to the Tamaoka Tumulus in Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture.

玉丘古墳は全長約109m、後円部の直径約64m
The Tamaoka burial mound is a post-anterior-round burial mound with a total
length of 109 m and a diameter of 64 m.
AC390-490(古墳時代中期)の前方後円墳
It was built in the middle of the Kofun period (390-490 AC).
墳丘は、3段築成、くびれ部の一方に造出しがあり表面には葺石
The mound is a three-tiered structure with a thatched stone on one side of the neck.
周囲は、幅約20mの周堀が巡り、外堤には円筒埴輪
It is surrounded by a 20m wide moat, and cylindrical terra-cotta clay figures
are found on the outer bank.
出土物は、家形・鶏形・円筒埴輪や盗掘を受けた埋葬部からは長持ち形石棺など
The excavated artifacts include house-shaped, chicken-shaped, and cylindrical terra-cotta
clay wheels, and a long-handled sarcophagus from the burial area that was stolen.
本題は「ふたりの皇子と巫女の悲しい恋の伝説!」
The main subject of this article is the legend of the sad love story
between the prince and the maiden.
ときはAC456年、安康天皇が暗殺された2か月後の10月、
後継者争いで市辺押磐(いちのへのおしは)皇子が暗殺された。
In 456 AC, in October, two months after the assassination of Emperor Anko,
Prince Ichinohe-no-oshiha was assassinated in a succession dispute.
市辺押磐皇子には二人の息子「意奚(おけ)」と「袁奚(をけ)」がいたが、
危険を察知し播磨の国に隠れ住んだ。
Prince Ichinohe Oshiha had two sons, Oke and Woke,
who sensed the danger and went into hiding in Harima.
二人はそこで、神秘的な美しさと不思議な力を持つ巫女
「根日女」(ねひめ)と恋におちた!

a priestess of mystical beauty and magical powers!
AC479年8月、父を暗殺した雄略天皇が崩御したため、二人の皇子は恋が実る前に
都に帰り、弟の袁奚(をけ)がAC485年、顕宗(けんぞう)天皇となった。
In August 479 AC, Emperor Yuryaku, who had assassinated their father, collapsed,
and the two princes returned to the capital before their love could bear fruit, and their
younger brother,Woke, became Emperor Kenzo in 485 AC.
根日女が二人の安否を気遣いながら亡くなったことを知った
天皇と兄は嘆き悲しみ、賀毛の里に美しい玉石で覆った墓を築いた。
When the emperor and his brother learned that Nehime had died while worrying about their safety, they grieved and built a tomb covered with beautiful boulders in the village of Gake.
その墓が今の玉丘古墳とのこと。
弟の顕宗天皇も後を追うようにAC487年に崩御し
兄がAC488年に仁賢(にんけん)天皇となっている。
That tomb is now the Tamaoka Kofun. The younger brother, Emperor Kenzo, followed suit and died in 487 AC, and the older brother became Emperor Ninken in 488 AC.
玉丘古墳がある玉丘古墳群には陪塚第1号墳(直径約25m円墳)。、陪塚第2号墳(一辺長約24m方墳)、クワンス塚古墳(直径約35m円墳)、壇塔山(だんとうやま)古墳(直径約17m円墳)、マンジュウ古墳(墳丘長約46m帆立貝式古墳)、笹塚古墳(全長約51m帆立貝式古墳)と多様な形が混在している!
In the Tamaoka Tumulus Group, where the Tamaoka Tumulus is located, there is Jury Mound No. 1 (a circular tomb with a diameter of about 25 meters). Jury Mound No. 2 (a square mound with a side length of about 24 meters), Kwangsuduka tumulus (a circular mound with a diameter of about 35 meters), Dantouyama tumulus (a circular mound with a diameter of about 17 meters), Manjyu tumulus (a scalloped shell tumulus with a mound length of about 46 meters), and Sasazuka tumulus (a scalloped shell tumulus with a length of about 51 meters).
