Shidami Otsuka Tumulus in Moriyama Ward, Nagoya City (7)

This is one of the Shidami burial mounds located on the river terrace along the Shonai River from Higashi Taniyama in Nagoya City.

the Shidami Otsuka burial mound is a large, scallop-shaped tomb with a short front section!

It's fun to see how beautiful and cute it was when it was restored!

The tomb is about 55m long, 40m in diameter at the back, and 7m high at the back, and was built in 460-490 AC (late 5th century).

The mound has a cylindrical haniwa (terra-cotta tomb figurine), the surface is

thatched with stones from the riverbed,

there is a terrace at the back of the mound, and there is a "Tsukuridashi" at

the right side of the mound.

Tsukuridashi is precious because it is found only in a few tumuli where a platform

is attached to the narrow part of the tomb.

It is estimated that it was surrounded by a single-layered moat.

The burial is presumed to have been a direct burial in a wooden coffin, and

lacquer film, bronze mirrors, harness, swords, etc. were excavated.
