We are spending time in Kobe at grandma and granpa's house for golden week vacation.

毎日じいじ、ばあば、ダディーにいっぱい遊んでもらってマミーはちょっと息抜きー。
He is pretty happy to play with grandma, grandpa and daddy every day!
今日はひと月ちょっと早いけど、１歳のお誕生日のお祝いをしてもらいました。
And we had his birthday party today! (1 month early though..)
お誕生日のお祝いは、私の母が鳥取出身でその土地の祝い方を教えてもらいました。
We celebrated in the traditional way of grandma's hometown.
一升餅を風呂敷に包み背負わせます。
目の前にそろばん（商人）、お金（富豪）、筆（芸術家）を置いて最初にとったものでその将来を占うもの。
We put a big rice cake on his back. The rice cake is called "issho mochi", and to carry the rice cake symbolizes that he will never starve. Also, items are placed in front of him and we guess his future from the item he picks up. Abacus (merchant), money (rich person) and brush (artist) etc...
一升餅て２kg程の重さがあり１０ヶ月の息子には重すぎ...。でも頑張ってました。

じいじがこの日の為に天然明石鯛を用意してくれました。美味しかったー。
Grandpa prepared a big snapper which is common fish for celebration.
明日でダディーはニセコに戻っちゃうけど、私と息子はあと一週間実家でのんびりさせてもらいます。
Daddy is going back to Niseko tomorrow for work but I will enjoy warmer weather another week in Kobe with Hugh:))
