The Ultraman day
An event was held at Suginami Public Hall—the very venue where the *Ultraman* "Eve Festival" took place on July 10, 1966—and I attended the 30th-anniversary celebration for *Ultraman Tiga*. It felt just like a 30-year reunion and was a lot of fun; many of the original cast and crew members gathered there. The event itself was wonderful, and after it ended, we all held a party at an Indian restaurant in front of the venue. The atmosphere was so warm and familiar—it felt as if we had just been filming together yesterday—which really speaks to what a fantastic team we are.
We also had fans visiting from all over the world, with a particularly large turnout from China and other parts of Asia. When I gave a lecture at UCLA previously, international students from Taiwan helped me out in various ways, and the popularity of Ultraman across Asia is truly incredible. Thank you all so much. However, things were so hectic that I didn't manage to get a single photo of myself—haha. I was having such a good time that I completely forgot to take pictures. Still, it was a wonderful day.
1966年7月10日にウルトラマン前夜祭を行った杉並公会堂でイベントがあり、僕はウルトラマンティガの30周年記念イベントにご招待いただいたので行ってきました。それはまるで30年目の同窓会のようで楽しかったです。当時のキャストスタッフがたくさん集まりました。イベントは素晴らしかったし、終演後はみんなで会場前のインド料理店でパーティーになりました。もう、昨日まで撮影していたかのような和やかさで、素晴らしいチームです。
そして昨日は世界中からお客さんも来ていた。特に中国やアジアからのお客さんも多い。前回にUCLAで講義した時も台湾からの留学生が色々と手伝ってくれましたが、アジアでのウルトラマンの人気はすごいです。ありがとうございます。でも、あんまりにもバタバタしていましたから、なんと自分の写真がない 笑。 あまりにも楽しくて写真を撮り忘れました。でもいい1日でした。

昨日の ウルトラマンの日 には雑誌『昭和40年男』も発売になりました。桜井浩子さん、毒蝮三太夫さん、森次晃嗣さん、榊原るみさん、西田健さん、高峰圭二さん、篠田三郎さん、佐野史郎さんほか充実したゲストの皆様でいろいろと濃い、最近の雑誌の中ではかなりの充実度のウルトラマンシリーズ特集です。私、八木毅のインタビューもあります。
