今週、東京にも雪が降った。それほど積もったわけではないが、夕方の雷には驚かされた。翌日はさすがに冷えて、毛糸の帽子かぶらなきゃと慌てた。両耳をぴったり覆ってくれる小ぶりの私の帽子、ふわふわしたモヘア風の黒いキャップ型だ。若い頃は黒い帽子でもなんとか様になったが、今かぶってみるとどうにも古臭く、ますます老人っぽく見える。そうだ、明るい色の帽子を買おう、新宿のデパートに出かけた。1階の帽子売り場で、赤い毛糸の帽子が目に入った。今の時期、20%ディスカウントだという。赤はいい、なるべく赤い物を身につけようと思い立つ。いまさら勝負するような出来事もないが、力がわくような気もする。赤い水玉模様の布袋は、インド製かすり地で作られている。これもきれいな赤。ブティックを営む友人がくれた、お気に入りの買い物バッグだ。
As it snowed in Tokyo this week, I wanted to buy a new wool cap to keep my ears warm. I have had a black wool fluffy and tight one for some time, but I have realized that it makes me look older and less lively. I used to think black was chic and mature but not anymore. Now at my age, I prefer bright colors such as solid red. Thus, I have bought this vivid red beanie that I have found pleasant and warm to wear. Red represents energy and happiness to me these days.
