寒い日になった。親友のYさんと、東京駅八重洲口から出てすぐのビル地下にあるレストランでランチをすませると、どちらからともなく美術館に行きましょう、と意見が一致した。ふたりともまだ、新しくなったアーティゾン美術館に入ったことがなかった。幸い、予約なしで入場できた。「マリー・ローランサン-時代をうつす眼」やさしいパステルカラーの女性群象図がたくさん展示されていた。さらに、石橋財団所有の内外著名な画家たちの油彩画もおしげなく並べられ、豊かな時間を持った。私の記憶では、改築前の美術館の壁面は、確か落ち着いた赤紫や紺、濃いグリーンなどの色調だった。ここは、ヨーロッパ風だな、と印象深かった。今回は、建物ぜんたいがぐっと開放的で広々としていた。パリのオルセー美術館やルーブル、ロンドンのテートなども深みのあるくすんだ色彩の壁を背景に、名画が掲げられていた気がする。あの感じもいいな。ローランサンは盛んに美しいピンクを使っていた。その絵の背景が渋い単色の壁だったら、どんな具合だろう。妄想してみる。
After the delicious lunch at the basement restaurant near the Tokyo Station Yaesu Entrance, my friend and I decided to visit the famous museum nearby. Neither of us had been to Artizon Museum since it was recently renovated. Their current exhibition, entitled "Marie Laurencin: An Eye for Her Time," was full of beautiful pastel color paintings mainly featuring groups of lovely women, which I adored. The new museum building was spacious, bright and very comfortable; at the same time, I missed a little the calm walls painted with quiet solid burgundy, deep blue or moss green in the past.
