2024年のはじまりは、ふたつの悲劇で幕を開けた。北陸地方を襲った能登半島地震、2011年の東日本大地震の記憶がまざまざとよみがえり、悲しく恐ろしい。どうか、多くのみなさんが無事でありますように。そして、2日夕刻に起きた予期せぬ飛行機事故、大勢の帰省客にも影響が続いているようだ。地球上のふたつの戦争も、いまだ終わりが見えない。長く井の頭線で通っている整形外科の帰り、久我山駅近くに来ると窓外に小さな平屋のプロテスタント教会が見える。壁に横断幕が貼られている。「信仰、希望、愛」とある。新約聖書のことばだ。(コリントの信徒への手紙一 13章13節) これらの中で最も大切なのは、愛である、と説かれている。愛とは、大切にすること。どうしても愛せない相手であったとしても、せめていじわるをしないこと。M神父様の教えだ。守りたい。
It was most unfortunate the new year 2024 began with two tragic incidents: Noto Peninsula Earthquake on the first and the unexpected collision between JAL jet and the Japan Coast Guard plane at the Haneda International Airport in the evening of the second. Those two continuing unjust wars taking place between Ukraine and Russia, and between Israel and Hamas do not seem to end before long. I woder how we live in this feeling of deep despair. As Bible tells us we should not forget the importance of the phrase "faith, hope and love. (1Corinthians 13:13)
