1週間ばかり、九州の故郷の町に滞在した。母の13回忌法要に参加するのが、主目的だった。同じ市内に住む姉と兄の所に、半々に泊めてもらった。兄家族が住む郊外には、格好の散歩道があり、毎日いっしょに歩いた。写真は、その途中で目にした美しい苗代(なわしろ)である。苗代、苗床、久しぶりに聞くなつかしい名称だ。あと1週間もすれば、田植えが始まるらしい。このあたり、全体が小高い丘になっており、実は古墳群だと教えてもらった。ため池も2つあり、「釣り禁止」の立て看板の横で、堂々と釣り人数人が糸を垂れていた。梅雨の合間の、久々のファミリー・リユニオンとおしゃべりと休暇を楽しんだ。
I have just come back from my one-week visit to my hometown in Kyushu. The main purpose of my trip was to attend the 13th anniversary of my late mother's Buddhist memorial service. I enjoyed the family reunion including visiting my sister's and brother's houses and lunch and dinner together. The photo shows the beautiful rice nursery I took while walking in my brother's neighborhood in the suburb that was full of nature. Although a short time, it was a lovely change of pace.
