It's funny how you could just stumble upon a hobby.
It just sort of comes at you totally out of the blue.
And it sticks with you. For no other reason, really, other than
that you like your hobby.
In my case, baking bread sort of came into my way and stayed.
I'm taking classes and baking at home (which my baking teacher,
a former teammate from university, very well intended).
Me, bake.
Unimaginable, but there we go.
Friday was tomato bread day.

Nice and round. Bit small for my liking, more fermentation definitely needed.
Along with the tomato bread recipe came new additions to our
kitchen, namely a bottle of olive oil and dried basil.
Again, unimaginable.
I suppose baking stuck because my family, myself included, loove
bread. Bread and wine, bread and coffee, bread bread bread.
We're not so crazy about cakes, cookies, and other sweet stuff that
you "bake," but bread is a whole different story.
The tomato bread I baked on Friday evening is almost gone.
Apparently, it goes excellently with wine.
It's not that I'm a great baker or anything. I just started, and
merely manage to bake without having to throw out stuff. Good
enough for my family and myself, but really not for others.
Maybe, with more experience and skill, I'd feel more comfortable
about sharing stuff from my oven.
It is nice to have something to call a hobby, though. Something
to (rather forcefully) take your mind off work and other daily
stuff, something to talk about, something to enjoy.
Sure, work is important, but perhaps there is a place in life for
something totally different.
Of course, the challenge a hobby like this poses is weight control.
Must never not overeat. Not even the steamy crispy bread just out of
the oven.
Must find supplementary hobby, desirably something that involves
rigorous exercise.
Hm.
