We spent a precious musical evening at Sigapore botanic gardens today
.
There was a piano concert that everyone could hear for free
in the open air
.
And what's more, one of the pianists is Mr. IZUMI TATENO. He is a top pianist and the right half of his body's been paralyzed since 2002, so he has to play the piano with only left hand. Actually I didn't know him before, but I took an interest in his playing after I read about him in a Japanese free paper. I found it very lucky that I had the chance to see his playing by accident today. Playing with only left hand was so amazing
We also enjoyed another pianists' performances. Mr. Daniel Wunkowski played a several pieces by Chopin for about an hour. And Ms Ayumi Hirahara played two pieces by Finnish composer. It was so nice that two of three pianists were Japanese
I'm proud of them very much as a Japanese.
Incidentally, this year is the two hundredth anniversary of Chopin's birth
