“ You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray."

Since summer is here, it’s time to bring out that high energy and sunny attitude, and rush to the nearest beach or pool! Summer proves to be the most appealing time to plan a trip.  This is not a new season for me as this is typical and mostly experienced in the country I come from. At present, I am counting this as my third summer here in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Summer in Japan is a lot hotter than I was expecting! The Japanese summer always comes as a shock to the system. The period between the start of June and the end of September is a test of sweaty endurance, with temperatures regularly in the high 30℃. Of course, when outside, stay hydrated with water, wear lightweight clothing, and bring a fan with you. Summer rains are also common, with intense and unpredictable bursts of sudden severe rainfall. It is recommended to carry around an umbrella at all times or have access to a potential shelter from the rain. This is totally a new kind of summer experience for me. Japan’s summer has its own  way of keeping its people more disciplined when it comes to preparing for the peak of the summer heat. This too I have adapted as part of my healthy routine.

Whatever the odds it brings due to the heat intensity, summer is still definitely my favorite season! I love the warmth it brings and the sun that beats down on me. This season gives me more time to explore and enjoy the blue sky and the intense heat of the sun. I simply love spending my summer days with my family and friends, as well as traveling and discovering new places - beaches, mountains, waterfalls, and just about anything. And of course, summer in the Philippines is time for festivals and celebrations! It certainly gives me that feeling of joy and excitement that is “one of a kind”.

Living in the Philippines, it’s hard not to fall in love with summer and beaches. It’s something that has become a constant in our lives.  Foreigners who have been to the country and spent a mere 10 seconds on the sandy shores of Boracay or emerald waters in Palawan can’t help but fall in love so easily.

With over 7,000 islands, we’re privileged to experience summer in the best landscapes and waters. And with that many islands, we have infinite choices over one lifetime. But even if we have all these islands to explore, I can’t help but be an Ariel in Little Mermaid when I see photos of other beaches and islands everywhere else in the world, I often feel that…I want more! I was given the opportunity to experience one of the best beaches I’ve ever experienced in my life so far. Nothing to take away from El Nido Palawan but that’s just my preference.

Be ready as I take you to a visual tour through my photographs taken way back then. If ever you feel like booking a ticket to this paradise, go ahead! You’re most welcome!

"Every summer has its own story."

Many people always get that giddy vibe to take on a hopeful adventure and create new summer stories. Wherever it may be in the world, make sure that you get the best of what summer has to offer. After all, it is not just about the place, it is also about choosing how to enjoy it despite the blazing heat.
