今日は沖縄旅行記を・・・
といっても、楽しいリゾート体験ではなく
飛行機内でのびっくり体験のお話です。
ちょうど先日のレッスンで中３の生徒たちと
"Transportation& Technology"
（交通機関とテクノロジー)
をテーマにディスカッションしていたので、
その時に話した内容を思い出しながら英語で記してみます。
I went to Okinawa at the beginning of April.
My birthday is in April, so I often take trips this time of year to express gratitude to my daughter and mother, who support me greatly.
This year, I chose Okinawa because it was a destination my mother had never visited.
I took my mother, my daughter and 2 nieces with me.
4月のはじめに沖縄に行きました。
自分の誕生日が４月なので、いつも私をサポートしてくれる母や娘に感謝の気持ちを伝えたく、毎年この時期は旅行に出かけます。
今年は母が行ったことがない沖縄本島へ。
娘と２人の姪も一緒に行きました。
We left Haneda early in the morning and flew to Naha Airport.
At the point where we were about 30 minutes from Naha Airport, we heard the announcement from the pilot.
He said, “A big earthquake has just occurred in Taiwan, and it is said that a tsunami could reach Naha city. Naha Airport is temporarily closed, so we are changing our destination to Fukuoka Airport.”
Yes, it was on the 3rd of April.
早朝に羽田空港を出発しました。
目的地の那覇空港まであと３０分というところで、
機長からアナウンスが。
「台湾で地震が起こり、那覇市に津波警報が発出されました。
那覇空港は一時的に閉鎖されたため、福岡空港へ目的地を変更します。」
そうなんです。この日はあの台湾地震が起こった４月３日。。。
The airplane passengers were surprised, but they stayed calm and listened to the instructions without panicking.
At that moment, the inside of the airplane flashed brightly. Everyone remained unsure of what had happened, but after a while, there was an announcement from the pilot, and we learned that the aircraft had been struck by lightning. It was a double blow, both to avoid the tsunami and the lightning strike.
乗客は驚いたものの、落ち着いて指示を聞いていました。
その時です。
飛行機の中が一瞬ピカッと光ったのです。
最初は何が起こったのか分からなかったのですが、のちに機長からのアナウンスで
機体が避雷したことを知りました。
津波に避雷にダブルパンチ
In the end, we safely made an emergency landing at Fukuoka Airport. However, as the aircraft had suffered damage, it required maintenance, resulting in a long line to book new tickets. Afterward, the tsunami warning was lifted, and after five hours of waiting, we were able to fly safely towards Naha.
We missed almost one day of our trip, but we enjoyed the rest of the time in Okinawa.
最終的には無事に福岡空港に臨時着陸できましたが、
機体が重大な損傷を受けているとのことでメンテナンスに時間がかかるとのこと。
新しいチケットを取るための長蛇の列に並ぶことになりました・・・
並んでいる間に津波警報も解除され、約5時間後かな、那覇空港へ飛ぶことができました。
短い旅行の１日を潰してしまいましたが、残りの旅は楽しむことができました

海でのシュノーケリングも楽しめました。
It was a surprising experience, but we are grateful that everyone returned safely, and we also pray for a speedy recovery in Taiwan.
びっくりする出来事でしたが、みんな無事だったことに感謝すると共に、
台湾の1日も早い復興をお祈りします。
