この更新の前に:読者へ:この更新は全く英語で書いています。読みにくいさ、ごめんなさい。

Let me open this post from what one of my classmates posted on her blog:

~Mount Union has a good football team.

~Said football team has a great chance of making it to the Stagg Bowl (National American football championship for universities) (again).

~Mount Union moved students’ finals schedules to the weekend because ESPN moved the Stagg Bowl to a Friday instead of the usual Saturday. *Note: to accommodate athletes, students, fans, band, cheerleaders, broadcasters and families who would be moving around their finals schedules to make it to the game. Nice gesture FOR ALL.

~Some students have issues with this.

Ok, here's the story

I am the Commentary (editorial) page editor for my school's newspaper The Dynamo. Well, the commentary page is a page where students at the Univ. of Mount Union write their OPINIONS!

On the page this week, the senior editor, Ashley, wrote an article called, "All for one, one for Mount Union football". In this article, Ashley expressed her 1st amendment rights by expressing her opinions.

今日:水曜日:

So I was walking around campus and I pick up a copy of the newspaper to see how the layout of my page went and I see this unfamiliar story that Ashley wrote.

注意:I knew over the weekend that she will be putting in a story she wrote after I finished the layout

Overall my first thought was that there were few minimal spelling and grammatical mistakes, which typically happens in any newspaper in the United States.

Once I talk about the Dynamo with a couple of my coworkers at my job over at the Center for Global Education, one of my colleagues wanted to read the article. Once she read the article, she got angry. She criticized the article, and still posting on Facebook her anger over the article.

From re reading the article I started to agree with what Ashley wrote because I feel some responsibility to what gets published onto my layout just like any other editor feels as their newspaper, layout, blog, website, and anything media related is like their child.

Ok, I have been a art of the Dynamo staff for about 3 and a half years and I myself have written an article (which i may post later) that could have offended the football team and Mount Union's campus, but the issue got pulled and re edited before it was released to the public.

Well, Ashley's article offended the campus

...and offended the football team.

Once after I got done with classes, I was checking the story on the website and I was reading the Letters to the Editor:

Dear Ashley Beck sorry our school is know for football and not your newspaper. I find it shallow that you find football players as eye candy and a good time on the weekend. There are plenty of us football players that have worked hard to be successful in academics as well as our athletics. Maybe you should think about the positive things the football team does for this school not the negatives.

I know due to my general propensity to verbally abuse people via sarcasm and harsh wit people are expecting me to say something about the asinine article by Ashley Beck, and at first I REALLY wanted to but there has been enough of that.
All I would like to say is THANK YOU to the FANS who truly support us in what we do everyday and who acknowledge how difficult it is to do what we do day in and day out … it’s not easy being a football player or any college athlete and your support means everything to us. On a final note since they changed finals for “the football team” lets make sure we get the job done …. 11 in 11

From the above, I just want to correct this Letter to the Editor. The grammar and the word set up is totally incorrect.

I understand where the football team could be offended, but, I also, as said above, because I feel some responsibility to what gets published onto my layout just like any other editor feels as their newspaper, layout, blog, website, and anything media related is like their child.

In continuation...

Ashley's article has become a trending topic on twitter (#ashleybeck) and a lot of the comments have been very negative:

" #ashleybeck won't get invited to any parties" - <

i dont know who this #ashleybeck character is, but she sure did f things up for herself..

#ashleybeck just gives me another reason to clean up spilled spitters with the dynamo rather than read it

I have even seen a tweet that compared Ashley to Casey Anthony.....

On Facebook it gets worse...

And I will not post from facebook because people are too mean.

As I see it I wanted to post a video on the Dynamo website but I know I would get emotional.

So that is why I am posting to my blog.

I really want people to apply to Mount Union not because of the athletic programs. I want people to apply to Mount Union for the rigorous academics.

Come read my friend, Sam's blog post about the issue!
