“Home services” companies offer at-home assistance booked through smartphone apps. This woman uses a firm based in a New Delhi suburb. The company offers more than 60 types of services, including home cleaning, appliance repairs, and beauty treatments such as haircuts. She says home services are now an essential part of her daily life.
“It’s very convenient for me, because, as I’m a working woman, and having two kids, it’s not possible for me to go outside.”
The home services market is projected to reach about 100 billion dollars by 2030. Experts say the growth will be driven by rising incomes in the middle class and the increased participation of women in society.
