大谷選手、ロサンゼルスのドジャーズ行きが決定しましたね～
なるほど、と思いました。サンフランシスコではないのは残念ですが、大谷選手の試合がもっと観れるようになるので嬉しいです。
さて、
サンフランシスコのサードウェーブコーヒーを代表する一つで、人気のコーヒー
Sightglass Coffee
現在サンフランシスコに3店舗、ロサンゼルスに1店舗あります。
今回訪れたのは、ソーマ地区のフラッグシップ店
元々工業用倉庫だった場所で、7,000 平方フィートの広さ。天井も高く広い空間。焙煎もここで行うようです。
２階にもカフェスペース。Wifiはありません。
丁寧に作られた
カフェモカとカフェラテ
お高めの価格ではありますが、美味しかったので、人気なのは納得です。
一緒に買ったペストリーも全部美味しかったです。

SF GateによるとJerad さんとJustin Morrison さん兄弟が2009年にビジネスを始めて、2011年に正式にコーヒーバーをこのソーマ地区の倉庫でオープン。お二人は当時20代後半と30代前半だったようです。
コーヒーの質と味に定評があって、シングルオリジンにこだわっているところが特徴
Sightglassという名前は、 焙煎機の中のコーヒー豆の確認をするのぞき窓から来ているそうです。
公共交通機関を利用していく場合は、Civic Centerの駅から約10分程の距離。
治安があまり良いとは言えない場所なのが、少し残念なところ。
ご興味ある方は、ミッション地区やパンハンドルの近くの店舗に行くと良いかもしれません。

Now we know Shohei Otani will be joining the Dodgers in Los Angeles. It’s too bad that he won’t come to San Francisco, but I’m glad as I can see his game more often as it will be the same league as SF Giants.
One of the popular third wave coffee brands in San Francisco;
Sightglass Coffee
Currently, there are 3 locations in San Francisco and 1 location in Los Angeles. This time we visited the flagship space in the SOMA district. It used to be a warehouse, “7,000-square-foot interior space.“ It had a high ceiling and it felt spacious. They also roast coffee here. There is a space on the 2nd floor also but there was no wifi.
They seemed to take time to make cafe mocha and latte carefully and looked pretty. It was priced a bit on the high but it tasted well so it was understandable. We bought some pastries and they were all good as well.

Many people like their quality of coffee and they are know for a single origin.
According to SF Gate, brothers Jerad and Justin Morrison started business in 2009. They are originally from Oregon and both used to work for Blue Bottle and had “12 years of experience in the Coffee biz” in 2011 when they officially opened the coffee bar in a 1924 warehouse on the 7th Street. They were late 20s and early 30s. Their brand name, Sightglass was named after “the window in the roaster for checking on the beans.”
If you take public transportation, it is about 10min waking from Civic Center station. I wouldn’t say it’s very safe area which isn’t that great. If you’re interested, you might want to try one in either Mission District or nearby Panhandle.
