Juniper Cafe

A bakery and cafe that was born from a very popular coffee shop, Saint Franck Coffee in Russian Hill neighborhood;
Juniper Cafe
It opened at the corner of Polk Street x Pine Street a few months ago. There was a Saint Frank pop-up before it officially opened. The space had high ceilings gave me a good impression. Also, the blue accent in the wooden decoration was neat and clean. I did; however, I think it was a little dark towards the back of the cafe. Some pastries were beautifully lined up in the showcase at the counter.
Apparently, their sweet and savory Choux were the most popular and their best selling but unfortunately there was none in the showcase. We look forward to trying them next time. The pairing menu seems like a great deal, which you can get a choux and a cup of blend coffee at $6.
Here are what we bought together with cafe latte and mocha which tasted very well.
- Butter Croissant
- Chocolate Croissant
- Rum Raison Escargot
- Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free)
Butter Croissant; It was very flaky and good after taste.
Chocolate Croissant; It was also flakey. They use Valrhona chocolate from France.
Rum Raison Escargot; It looked much bigger compared to the croissant but it didn’t feel like it was big in volume. It was lighter than I thought.
Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free); It was very moist. The praline and chocolate caramel were creamy and not too sweet. It was delicious.
According to Eater SF, Andrea Correa who worked at some famous restaurant such as Noma in Denmark and Parallel 37 at the Ritz-Carlton as a pastry chef oversees pastries as a consultant.
I will definitely go back and try choux next time!
