４月21日（日）は皇后盃全日本女子柔道選手権、
４月29日（祝・月）は天皇杯全日本選手権が行われます。
御存じの通り両大会は体重無差別で争われる女子、男子それぞれの国内最高峰に位置づけられる大会です。出場するのは全国の予選を勝ち上がった各地区の代表です。
今年は両大会に特化して作られたルール（全日本選手権大会申し合わせ事項）が初めて適用されてます。
申し合わせ事項は具体的には、次の通りです。
・試合時間
これまで全試合４分間だったのが、１回戦から準決勝までは５分間、決勝戦は８分間になります。
・「指導」による罰則
これまでは３回目が与えられた時点で「反則負け」となりましたが、４回目に変更となります。
・旗判定が復活
試合時間内に勝敗が決しない場合はゴールデンスコア方式の延長戦が行われていましたが、これがなくなり、審判員3人の旗判定となります。
これに伴い、３審制も復活し、試合上には主審と副審２名が上がります。これまでは主審１名が試合場に上がっていました。
このような変更は、無差別で行われる伝統ある両大会で選手たちの実力と柔道の魅力を引き出し、見応えある試合を増やすことが目的であると理解しています。
実際にこれで試合を行ってみることで様々な感想が出ると思いますが、まずは楽しみです。その上で課題をしっかり分析し、議論していく必要が出てくると思います。
また、新たな発見があるかもしれません。そうした観点でも観戦したいと思っています。

Empress’s Cup & Emperor’s Cup
Taking place this month,
Sunday April, 21st The Empress’s Cup All Japan Women’s Championship
Monday April 29th (Nat. Hol) The Emperor’s Cup All Japan Championship
As you know both the men’s and women’s events represent the pinnacle in open weight competitions. Taking part will be representatives who have won their way to the top in each region. It is the first time that the competition will be run under new, specialized rules, as designated by the All Japan Championship.
Here are the specifics.
Match Length
Up until now it was 4 minutes, now, from the first match to the finals each match will be 5 minutes long and 8 minutes for the final.
Guidance on Penalties
Up until now a loss was declared on the 3rd penalty, this will now change to the 4thpenalty.
Return to Flag Judgement
In a draw situation, a sudden death or ‘Golden Score’ format has normally been implemented however it will now be replaced by a flag judgement from 3 referees. To facilitate this there will be a return to having three judges, one main and two sub instead of just one judge.
As I understand it the changes have been implemented with the goal of increasing the number of matches worth watching and to enhance the appeal of judo in a traditional open weight competition.
I’m sure that after seeing how the actual competition unfolds a number of points for discussion will arise but first up I’m really looking forward to it! After the competition we can thoroughly analyse and discuss any issues as necessary.
