１月下旬から２月半ばにかけ、ALSOKと羽田タートルサービスが開催した柔道教室に参加しました。
ALSOK柔道教室は２カ所で行われ、１月28日は佐賀県佐賀市で、２月10日には長野県佐久市で開催しました。
どちらも大変盛況でたくさんのお子さんにご参加いただきました。
佐賀会場には講師として、香川大吾、相田勇司、立川桃の３選手と、小橋秀規監督、中矢力コーチと一緒に参加しまました。佐賀では今年、国民スポーツ大会が開催されるということで、大会を成功させようという機運で盛り上がっていました。
長野会場は小橋監督、中矢コーチに加え、梅木真美、山口貴也、嶺井美穂の３選手も参加しました。
会場となった長野県立武道館では東日本柔道交流大会が行われていたため、柔道教室には大会に参加していた500〜600人もの子どもたちが集まり、大変な熱気の中で行われました。
どちらの会場でも子どもたちとの交流はとても楽しく、とても良い時間を過ごさせていただきました。また、タレント性豊かな子どもたちもたくさんいて、今後の成長が非常に楽しみだと思いました。
このALSOK柔道教室はかつて私がALSOKに所属していた選手時代に社会貢献活動としてスタートし、もう20年近く続いています。
途中、英国留学中には参加できない時期もありましたが、私にとっては、ライフワークのようになっています。毎回、全国各地で柔道を通じて沢山の子どもたちと遊び、楽しく過ごす時間は私にとってかけがえのない時間となっています。
羽田タートルサービス柔道教室は、関わり始めて３年近くになります。
２月12日には大阪で開催され、上水研一朗東海大監督、村尾三四郎選手とともに参加しました。
３部構成で行われ、柔道未経験者、小学生、中学生をぞれぞれを対象に行いました。未経験者対象の１部では、畳の上で遊びを交えた運動を行ったり、礼法を学んでもらったり、技を掛ける体験をしてもらい、経験者の小学生、中学生の部では、基本に加えて技術指導を行い、それぞれ楽しい時間を過ごしました。
柔道教室に参加して思うのは、柔道というものを通して一緒に体を動かすことでお互いの距離が一瞬にして縮まり、心が通じ合う体験ができる喜びです。
全国各地を訪れることも、楽しみの一つです。地元の柔道連盟・協会をはじめ、いろいろな方にお会いでき、柔道普及のために一生懸命に取り組まれている皆さんと情報を交換したり、交流の機会を持つことができます。柔道教室は、講師という立場で参加してはいますが、私の方が皆さんからエネルギーをもらえる大事な活動になっています。
ALSOK Haneda Turtle Service Judo Class
I attended the ALSOK and Haneda Turtle Service Judo Classes which ran from the end of January to the middle of February. The ALSOK classes were held at two venues, on January 28th in Saga City, Saga Prefecture and on February 10th in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture. A huge number of children took part making both events a great success.
Three judo practitioners KAGAWA Daigo, AIDA Yuji, TATSUKAWA Momo were instructors at the Sage venue assisting Coaches KOHASHI Hidenori and NAKAYA Riki .
There was a lot of enthusiasm to make the tournament a success as Saga will be hosting the National Sports Tournament this year.
In Nagano Coaches KOBASHI and NAKAYA were assisted by judoka UMEKI Mami, YAMAGUCHI Takaya, and MINEI Miho. The place was buzzing with 500-600 children coming together to take part in the judo class at the Nagano Prefectural Budokan where the East Japan Judo Exchange Tournament was also being held.
At both venues interacting with the children was great fun and a very worthwhile time. It’s going to be exciting to see how the large number of children who are showing talent will progress in the future.
The ALSOK judo class has been going for almost 20 years since it started as a social contribution project back when I was a member of ALSOK. There was a gap when I was studying abroad in Britain, but for me it has almost become a life work. The enjoyable time I spend playing and doing judo with so many children around the country is like nothing else.
I have been involved with Haneda Turtle Service Judo Class for almost three years. At the Osaka class on February 12thTokai University Coach AGEMIZU Kenichiro took part along with judoka MURAO Sanshiro. Attendees were split in to three groups, first timers, elementary and junior high school students. Each group enjoyed their classes; the first group did exercises and played on the mats, they learned some etiquette and tried out a few techniques.
The other two groups built on the basics with the addition of more technical guidance. I feel there is a certain enjoyment and meaningfulness when you come together to practice judo as you actually close the physical gap between you and your partner and come to a mutual understanding.
It is always a pleasure to travel around the country. Meeting and talking to people from local judo federations and associations is a chance exchange information with those who are working hard to promote judo.
Attending such classes is an important activity for me as although I attend these classes as an instructor, I feel so energized from interacting with everyone.
