６月24、25日に、伝統ある全日本学生柔道優勝大会が日本武道館で開催されました。
今年は男子が国士舘、女子５人制が環太平洋大、女子３人制では東海大九州が優勝しました。
優勝校の皆さん、おめでとうございます！
16年ぶりの４度目の優勝を飾った国士舘は圧倒的な総合力を持つチームだったと思います。
竹市大祐選手、高橋翼選手、斉藤立選手ら４年生が軸となり、全体がしっかりまとまって
それぞれ仕事を果たすチームだったと思います。
女子５人制の環太平洋大には意地と執念を感じました。準決勝での東海大との試合も互いに譲らぬ素晴らしい試合でした。
女子３年生の東海大九州は厳しい試合の連続で、粘り強い柔道をしていたのが印象的でした。今回は初優勝です。選手の皆さん、関係者の皆さんの努力の賜物です。おめでとうございます。
今年は声出し応援が解禁となり、伝統ある一戦らしい熱気と独特の緊張感に包まれ、優勝大会らしさが戻ってきたと感じました。
また、団体戦の面白さも改めて感じました。
学生と指導者が一体となり、勝利に向かい、
自分たちがこの日のために積み上げきたものを出しきろうとする姿は
やはり誰が見ても心打たれるものがあるのではないでしょうか。
優勝校の監督のコメントにもありましたが、
やるべきことをやってきたという心の底からの自負と
それだけのことをして臨む価値のある大会が存在することを誇りに思いますし、
大切にしていかなければいけないと思います。
All Japan Student Judo Championships
As is tradition the All Japan Student Judo Championships " Yusho-taikai"were held at the Nippon Budokan on June 24th and 25th .
This year’s winners were Kokushikan in the men’s, International Pacific University in the women’s 5- a-side and Tokai University Kyushu in the women’s 3-a-side.
I'd like to congratulate all the winners!
It was a fourth win and their first in 16 years for Kokushikan. The team showed
overwhelming overall strength.
4 th year students TAKEICHI Daisuke, TAKAHASHI Tsubasa and SAITO Tatsuru played a pivotal role , each of the team members doing their job.
International Pacific University’s 5-a-side women showed mindfulness and tenacity.
The semifinal against Tokai was an exciting match neither team giving an inch.
It was a first-time win for the Tokai University Kyushu women’s 3-a-side team who fought a series of tough battles.
I was impressed by just how tenacious they were. It’s a credit to all
the athletes and everyone involved. Congratulations!
The ban on cheering has been lifted this year making it feel like we are back to the traditional style of competition with its own unique tension and enthusiasm.
Again, I was struck by how interesting the team events are with both the students and the coaches working together to win. Anyone watching can appreciate the culmination of effort shown on the day.
As the winning school coach commented, the winners can be really proud that they did everything they possibly could.
I’m also proud that we have a competition worth putting in all that effort, it’s a tradition we need to uphold.
