↑堀切中で
東京都教育委員会が展開している
「子供を笑顔にするプロジェクト」をご存じでしょうか。
コロナ禍の中、制限のある生活を送ってきた
都内の公立・私立の小・中・高校、特別支援学校を対象に、
「見る・聞く・触れる」体験を提供するというプロジェクトです。
この秋、私もこのプロジェクトに講師として参加し、
都立石神井高校と葛飾区立堀切中学校におじゃましました。
９月に訪れた石神井高校では講話を、
11月の堀切中学校ではトークと柔道体験教室を行ったのですが、
どちらも本当に楽しくて私自身にとって
学びにもなる素晴らしい機会でした。
堀切中で行った柔道体験では、
柔道未経験者、ちょっとかじったことのある人、柔道経験者が一緒に参加。
あちこちからワイワイキャーキャーという楽しい声があがり、
大変な盛り上がりとなりました。
３年生の皆さんと行ったトークもまた、面白かった。
「困難はどうやって乗り越えますか？」「緊張したときはどうするのですか？」
「好きな食べ物は？」といったことから、「どうしたら彼女できますか？」的な質問まで、
皆さんの率直で素直な発想がとても新鮮で、
私自身、心が洗われるような思いでした。
最後は、３年生だけでなく、
教室からオンラインで見ていた１、２年生とも記念撮影ができたのも思い出になりました。

Project to Make Children Smile
I wonder if you have you heard about Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education's
'Project to Make Children Smile'?
It’s a project which targets children at public and private elementary, junior high and senior high schools as well as special-needs schools in Tokyo who have been living under restrictions due to the pandemic. The project aims to provide various experiences in 'seeing, hearing and touching,' to these students.
This autumn, I took part in this project as an instructor paying a visit to Shakujii High School and Horikiri Junior High School in Katsushika Ward.
Both occasions were really enjoyable and a great learning opportunity for me.
I gave a lecture at Shakujii High School in September then I gave a talk and a judo lesson at Horikiri Junior High School in November.
The judo experience lesson at Horikiri Junior High School was a lot of fun.
It was a mix of people with no judo experience, people with a little bit and some more experienced.
We had a blast! I heard a lot of happy voices and laughing throughout.
The talk I had with the ninth-grade students was also interesting.
They had all sorts of questions from ‘How do you overcome difficulties?’ ‘How do you deal with nerves?’ ‘What is your favourite food?’' to questions like ‘How can I get a girlfriend?’ Their openness and honesty were really refreshing.
The end of the day was a memorable moment too when we took a photo with not only the ninth-grade students but also with the seventh and eight grade students who had been watching online from their classrooms.
