学生柔道の伝統ある一戦、
全日本学生柔道優勝大会が今週末に日本武道館で開催されます。
６月25日は女子５人制と３人制が決勝までと、男子１回戦、
26日は男子２回戦から決勝までが行われます。
男子の場合、各チーム 7 名の点取り式によるトーナメント戦で、
各試合の選手選出・配列は自由。
つまり、体重無差別です。
試合は体重差を活かした戦術や駆け引きがあり、
個人戦では観られないような柔道を観ることができますし、
大逆転劇など団体戦だからこそ生まれるドラマの連続です。
私もこの大会で勝つことを学生としての一番の目標に掲げていました。
今も当時を思い出すだけで熱き思いがこみ上げてきます。
今年は３年ぶりの有観客での開催です。

The All Japan Student Judo Championships !
A long-standing tradition in university level judo, The All Japan Student Judo Championships are being held at the Nippon Budokan this weekend.
On June 25th the women’s 5 and 3 people events will run through to the finals and in the men’s, the first round will take place.
The men’s second round and through to the finals will take place on 26th.
The Men’s event will be tournament style with seven members in each team.
Teams are free to select any member for a given match essentially making it an open weight competition.
Being an open weight competition, we get to see matches where athletes take advantage of their weight difference, employing different tactics and techniques. In such a team battle there is a lot of drama and reversal of scores another thing you don’t see in individual events.
As a student one of my main goals was to win this tournament.
Even just thinking about it now makes me feel a great deal of passion.
For the first time in 3 years spectators will be present. If you are able, please come along to the Nippon Budokan to watch!
