今年の全日本選手権も素晴らしい大会でした。
出場した全ての選手と大会をご準備頂いた
関係者の方々に心から敬意を表します。
今大会は１回戦から一本勝ちが多く、見応えのある試合の連続で
柔道の魅力が存分に発揮されていました。
私は全日本強化委員会副委員長という立場で会場にいましたが、
一人の柔道ファンとしてワクワク、ドキドキしながら観戦しました。
優勝した斉藤はもちろん、
準優勝の影浦、３位の原沢、小川は、
それぞれの立場で執念を持った闘いぶりを見せてくれました。
また、五輪金メダリストの髙藤や大野が、
現行のルールでは非常に厳しい試合になるとわかっていながら
挑戦したことも大会の魅力を高めてくれたと思います。
彼らの出場は無差別が基本である武道の原点を
感じさせてくれたのではないでしょうか。
また、今大会は100kg超級の代表選考大会でもありましたが、
代表争いの枠を超えた闘いがあると言っていいと思います。
これからも全日本選手権は、
そこのところの価値を持ち続けることが大事であり、
大会の持つポテンシャルを
引き出す運営方法ももっともっとあるように感じます。
体重無差別で行われる全日本選手権は、
他では作れない魅力と価値がある唯一無二の大会です。
今年の全日本選手権では
そのことを改めて確認するとともに、
柔道の素晴らしさを味わわせてくれた最高の１日となりました。
After the All-Japan Championships
This year's All-Japan Championships was another fantastic event.
I would like to pay tribute to all the athletes who competed and to all those involved in the organization.
In the first round of the tournament, there were a number ippon wins and a series of impressive matches that were well worth watching. The matches truly demonstrated the appeal of judo.
I attended in my capacity as vice-chairman of the All-Japan Strengthening Committee and watched the matches with the thrill and excitement of a judo fan.
Runner-up KAGEURA, third-placed finishers HARASAWA and OGAWA, as well as SAITO who won all showed us perseverance in their respective positions.
Olympic gold medalists TAKAFUJI and ONO took on the challenge of competing in what they knew would be very tough matches under the current rules. This also enhanced the appeal of the event. I feel their participation made us appreciate one of the cornerstones of budo, which is non-discrimination.
The tournament was also a selection round for the over 100kg category.
I think it is fair to say that the fight went beyond the boundaries of a selection match.
It is important to keep the value of this part of the event and I feel that there should be more done in managing the event to maximize its potential.
The All-Japan Championships by weight category, holds a unique value and attraction which cannot be recreated elsewhere.
This year’s competition reaffirmed that and at the same time was a fantastic day to experience how great judo is.
