昨日行われた全日本柔道連盟強化委員会において、
2012年11月から２期・約9年に渡り務めてきた
全日本柔道男子強化監督を今月いっぱいで退任することが承認されました。
これまでお力添えを頂いた全ての皆様にお礼申し上げます。
有り難うございました。
この９年を振り返ると二度の五輪と７回の世界選手権をはじめとして
様々な場面で沢山の学びがあり、出会いがあり、笑いがあり、涙があり、
私の人生にとってかけがえのない時間であったと思います。
日本柔道再建のため共に仕事をしてきた強化コーチ、スタッフの皆さん、
そして目標に向かって戦った選手たちの存在があったからこその日々でありました。
強化委員の皆様、選手、コーチ、それぞれの所属先に対してましても
心から感謝申しあげます。
任期は９月30日までと事前に決まっていたことではありますが、
強化委員会でのご挨拶を終えた今、
一抹の寂しさを感じているのも正直なところです。
しかしながらすでに私の中では監督としての９年間のこの経験を
次なるステージで活かしていくことに
ピントを合わせているところがあります。
選手のときは選手として、
監督としては監督として、
そしてこれからはまた別の立場で存在を示していき、
己の力を発揮できるよう挑戦を続けていきます。

Stepping Down as Coach
Following a meeting yesterday of the All Japan Judo Federation Strengthening Committee, I will be stepping down as coach of the Men’s National Team at the end of this month, having been in the position for nine years since November 2012.
I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported me in this role.
Thank you.
Looking back over the past nine years, two Olympic Games and seven World Championships it has certainly been an invaluable period in my life. I have learned such a lot and met so many people.
There has been laughter and tears.
I’d like to thank the staff and intensive training coaches for working together with me, towards the same goal of rebuilding Japanese judo.
To everyone on the strengthening Committee, the athletes and coaches and their respective employers, I would like to offer my deepest thanks for your dedication.
To be honest I’m now feeling rather sad after delivering my address to the strengthening committee despite the fact that it was already agreed that my term would end on September 30th.
However, I am already starting to focus on the next stage of my career which will build on my experiences over the past nine years.
When an athlete, I was an athlete.
When a coach, I was a coach.
I will continue to strive to be the best I can be in my new position.
Once again, a sincere thank you to everyone and I look forward to working with you again in the future.
