もう１カ月以上前のことになりますが、
昨年の12月26日に全日本柔道選手権が開催されました。
例年４月の開催である全日本選手権ですが、
今年度はコロナ禍のため12月に延期され、講道館大道場で行われました。
このような例年と異なる条件で行われた大会を制したのは
羽賀龍之介選手。
初戦から彼らしい組み手の技術と戦術が駆使され、
これまでの数々の経験が随所に生かされた非常に緻密でクレバーな
柔道を見せてくれました。
昨年来、選手として何ができるかを考え、
柔道の魅力を発信し続けてきた羽賀選手が結果を出したということも
非常に意味があったのではないかと思っています。
本当におめでとう。
今大会は軽中量級の選手が推薦枠を使って多数出場し、
素晴らしい試合を見せてくれました。
特に60kg級の永山竜樹選手、81kg級の佐々木健志選手は
自分より大きな選手を相手に真っ向勝負を挑み、
無差別の試合の面白さを存分に示してくれたと思います。
今後も重量級以外の選手の挑戦が増え、
さらに出場資格の門戸を広げることで、
全日本の価値は更に高まるのではないかと強く思いました。
次回、令和３年度の全日本選手権は当初４月開催で
予定されていましたが、
10月以降への延期が先日全日本柔道連盟から発表されました。
緊急事態宣言の発令により各地区での予選が開催できなくなったことによる
措置とのことです。
予選に向けて準備していた選手も多数いると思いますが、
ここは気持ちを切り替え、秋以降の本大会に備えて欲しいと思います。
All Japan Judo Championships
On December 26th, over a month ago now, the All-Japan Judo Championships took place at the Kodokan main dojo.
In a normal year they would be held in April however due to Covid-19 they were postponed until December.
The competition, held under unusual conditions, was won by HAGA Ryunosuke.
Right from the first match he made full use of his own particular kumite skills and tactics.
He leaned on his past wide experience to show us some really clever and elaborate judo.
It’s really significant the HAGA came out on top. Since last year he has been carefully considering what he could achieve as an athlete and has continued to showcase the appeal of judo.
A big congratulations to him.
During the championships light and middleweight athletes used their recommendations to
take part and showed us some great matches.
In particular NAGAYAMA Ryuju in the -60kg division and SASAKI Takeshi in the -81kg division showed us in the open-weight category how exciting a match can be going head on with an opponent bigger than yourself.
Moving forward there will be more matches in divisions other than heavy weight, opening the door for more athletes to qualify for the finals and really making the significance of this competition even more important.
The next All-Japan Judo Championships in 2021were set to take place in April however the All-Japan Judo Federation has just announced that they will be moved back until after October.
The reason behind the decision is that due to the State of Emergency regional heats are not able to take place.
I’m sure there were a lot of athletes in training for heats but I hope they will find a way to adapt and begin preparations for the competition in the autumn.
