試合後、阿部、丸山から共に
お互いの存在があったから強くなれた、というコメントが出ていました。
その言葉を聞いて胸が熱くなりました。
阿部をここまで強くさせたのは丸山であり、
丸山をあそこまで強くさせたのは阿部です。
だから、あれほどの試合になり、
多くの人の心を打ったのだと思います。
同時に勝負の世界は非道なものであることも改めて感じているところです。
しかしながら我々はこの厳しさを背負い、覚悟をもって戦っていかねばなりません。
だからこそ、スポーツは人を惹きつけてやまない魅力があるのだとも思います。
二人の試合を終え、この思いを新たにしているところです。
Mutual Existence
After their match, both ABE and MARUYAMA commented that the source of their strength stemmed from the existence of the other.
Hearing this filled me with emotion.
The reason ABE is so strong is MARUYAMA, the reason MARUYAMA is so strong is ABE.
That’s why it was such a great match, everyone watching felt the intensity.
At the same time, I felt how cruel the world of competition can be. As competitors, all we can do is take that harshness on board and carry on fighting.
That, I believe is why people are constantly drawn to sport.
With their match now over, I am reliving those feelings.
