先日、13日日曜日。
男子66kg級の東京オリンピック代表決定戦が講道館で行われました。
結果はここに書くまでもないと思いますが、
阿部一二三選手が延長戦の末、
丸山城志郎選手を技ありで破り、東京五輪代表に内定しました。
試合はまさに死闘と言える戦いだったと言っていいと思います。
本戦4分、延長戦20分という長時間の試合となりましたが
二人はこの日に向けて準備してきたことを
全て出し尽くしたのではないかと思います。
技の選択や組み手、戦術、試合の流れの作り方。
新しく挑戦していた部分も含めて両者らしさが存分に表れていました。
出来ることならオリンピックの決勝で
二人を戦わせてあげたかったというのが正直な気持ちです。
そのくらい素晴らしい試合でした。
誰も経験したことのないワンマッチという過酷な条件の下、
見事な試合をしてくれた両者を心から讃えたいと思います。
今回の代表決定は異例とも言える直接対決という形となり、
この試合を実施するにあたり、多くの方の御理解と御支援がありました。
御準備を頂いた阿部、丸山両選手の陣営を始め、
会場となった講道館、大会準備にあたって頂いた全日本柔道連盟の皆様、医科学委員の皆様、
全ての関係者の皆様に心より御礼申し上げます。
66kg Division Qualifying Match
On Sunday 13th, the qualifying match for a place in the Men’s 66kg division at the Tokyo Olympics was held at the Kodokan Judo Institute.
There is no real need to report the result here, however it was ABE Hifumi who clinched victory in extra time, beating MARUYAMA Joshiro and winning a place on the Tokyo Olympic Team.
You could honestly say that the match was a fight to the death.
It was a long battle with four minutes of match time followed by 20 minutes of extra time. Both of them drew on the hard training they put in preparing for this day and gave it their absolute all.
They both exceeded themselves in their choice of techniques, kumite, tactics, the flow of the match and trying out new moves.
To be honest I wish these two could have had this match in the finals at the Olympics. That’s how incredible it was.
I want to praise both of them for such an amazing match under the rigorous conditions of an unprecedented one-off contest.
The play-off, an unprecedented one-off showdown was made possible with the understanding and support of a great number of people.
I’d sincerely like to thank all those involved, first of all members of the ABE camp and the MARUYAMA camp, the venue; Kodokan Judo Institute, everyone at the All Japan Judo Federation for setting up the competition and members of the Medical Board.
