今回のエベレストへの柔道畳と柔道衣寄贈事業。
このプロジェクト発起人は
オーストリアの柔道選手サブリナ・フィルツモザー（Sabrina Filzmoser）さんです。
世界選手権女子57kg級で２度も３位入賞経験のあるトップ選手であり、
私が現役のときから東海大にも何度も出稽古に来ていて、
よく知っている選手でもあります。
そのサブリナさんから、
「エベレストの3790ｍにある学校に柔道畳を届けたい。支援してもらえないか」と
相談があったのが昨年11月のグランドスラム大阪でのことでした。
彼女は長年、ネパールで学校設立や柔道衣の寄付を行ってきましたが、
ぜひエベレストに畳と柔道衣を届けたい、
それが夢なのだ、と話してくれたということです。
そこで我々としても早速検討に入り、
法人としての事業方針と合致すると判断、
畳の調達から輸送手配までの一切を全面支援することを決めました。
サブリナさんの夢が
私たちとエベレストとの縁を作ってくれたということになります。
さらに今回、もう一人柔道が繋いでくれた人がいます。
今回、現地の受け取りのコーディネートをしていただいた
カトマンズ在住の古屋祐輔さんです。
今回はコロナ禍という厳しい状況の中、
ネパールの柔道連盟との調整から現地での受け取り、
クムジュン村への輸送手配など
全てを取り仕切っていただきました。
当初の計画では、事務局からスタッフを派遣することも検討していましたが
コロナ禍により断念した経緯があります。このような状況の中、古屋さんの素晴らしいコーディネートのおかげで
事故なく無事に届けることができました。
現地からの情報、そして映像や写真などの記録についても担当、手配いただいています。
映像も写真もどれも素晴らしく、子どもたちの笑顔が輝いています。このように現地の皆さんの様子を一つ一つ届けてくださっていることにも感謝致します。

Connection with Everest
The project to deliver donations of judo mats and judogi to Everest was started by the Austrian judoka Sabrina Filzmoser.
A top athlete and two times bronze medal winner in the World Women’s 57kg category, she is somebody I have known well since I was competing and has been to Tokai University many times to practice.
Sabrina asked me at the Osaka Grand Slam in November last year. ‘I want to deliver judo mats to a school 3790m up Everest, could you give me your support?’
For many years she had been involved in establishing schools in Nepal and sending donations however, she explained to me how it was her dream to send mats and judogi to Everest too.
We started to consider a plan straight away. Her request matched our NPO’S project policy and we decided to offer our support on every level from procuring the mats to having the delivered.
It was Sabrina’s dream that created our connection with Everest.
Another very important connection we made through judo on this occasion was with Mr.FURUYA Yusuke who lives in Kathmandu and coordinated the delivery on our behalf.
Due to the situation with COVID 19 he helped us enormously with everything from liaising with the Nepal Judo Federation to accepting the delivery and having it transported to Khumjung village.
At the beginning of the project we considered dispatching our own staff however due to COVID 19 we had to abandon that plan.
It really is down to the amazing coordination of Mr. FURUYA that this project was successful.
Staff over there are also providing us with reports including photos and video clips.
The photos and videos are amazing.
The children’s smiles are beaming. I’m so grateful that we are able to see these images of what is happening there.
