10月6〜8日、ブラジルの首都・ブラジリアで
グランドスラム・ブラジリアが行われました。
今回、日本男子は4名が出場し、
81kg級の永瀬貴規と100kg級の飯田健太郎が優勝、
73kg級の橋本壮市が3位、
100kg超級の影浦心が2回戦（初戦）敗退となりました。
影浦は初戦でリネール選手（フランス）と対戦、
延長戦に持ち込み、10分の死闘を粘り強く戦いましたが、
一歩およびませんでした。
リネール選手というカベの大きさを改めて感じる結果となりましたが、
一方、日本としては、
来年へ向け、得たものも大きかったと考えております。
橋本は審判の不運なジャッジもあり3位となりましたが、
しぶといところを見せ、
永瀬と飯田も東京五輪代表争いへ猛列なアピールをしてくれたと思います。
ブラジルからは、
飛行機の機材トラブルと台風の影響により、
帰国が3日ほど遅れました。
アクシデントはないほうがよいに決まっています。が、
世界で戦う選手にとってこれもまた、良き経験のひとつになったと思っています。
Brasilia
The Brasilia Grand Slam was held in Brazil’s capital, Brasilia from October 6th to 8th.
Four members of the Japanese Men’s team took part in this event.
Both Takanori Nagase in the 81kg event and Kentarou Iida in the 100kg event won first place. Soichi Hashimoto came third in the 73kg event and Kokoro Kageura was knocked out of the over 100kg event in his first match in the second round.
In his first match Kageura came up against French judoka Riner, the match went into extra time and he managed to hold his ground and fought hard but didn’t quite make the mark.
On the one hand we saw again the great obstacle which Riner represents but I also consider it to be was also a useful experience for Japan looking ahead to next year.
?With an unlucky decision by the referee Hashimoto came in third place however he showed us his great tenacity.
Nagase and Iida also did a great job of showing us what they are capable of as potential representatives of Japan at the Tokyo Olympics.
On the way home from Brazil we were delayed by three days due to engine trouble and typhoons.
Naturally, it’s better when things go smoothly however in terms of preparing to compete on the world stage, I believe it was a good experience for them.
