Apparently, according to a member of the GSDF,11m is the height at which humans first start to feel fear,,,
Descending after being lifted up 11m. I managed to do this, despite having vertigo,,,
Getting the Job Done
The severity level of our latest training with the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF) was taken up a notch with the decision to go ahead despite heavy rain.
Covered in mud, our athletes battled through the training programme.
The highlight was being abruptly awoken at 2:00 am to go marching in the dark when we were expecting a 6:30 wake up. Coaches and members of staff, including myself,
also took part in the training which gave us a real taste of the level of extreme conditions the Self Defence Force face on a daily basis.
Despite its severity and a few complaints here and there, all the athletes completed the program.
It gave me an insight into their determination to get the job done,
a quality only seen in people who compete at the highest level in the world.
