中国で行った柔道教室には、
秋本啓之さん（全日本女子強化特別コーチ）に同行してもらいました。
最終列の左から3人目が秋本コーチです
Coach Akimoto is the 3rd coach from the left in the back.
秋本コーチは2010年の世界柔道選手権73kg級チャンピオン。
私より8歳年下ですが、
選手時代、ともに世界で戦った仲間でもありました。
秋本コーチに海外での柔道教室に同行してもらうのは、
昨年10月の香港に続いて今回が2度目。
今回の上海、南京でも、彼は大人気でした。

彼はいつでもどこでも明るくて無邪気、
そして誠実です。
子どもにも大人にも、誰に対しても態度が変わりません。
そういうところが秋本の魅力であり、
皆、彼に惹きつけられるんだと思います。
上海では短時間でしたが観光にも行きました。
森ビルが建てた地上497ｍの「上海環球金融中心」に昇る前。高所恐怖症の私はこの時点でかなり緊張…。秋本は元気です
We didn't have much time in Shanghai, but we managed to get some sightseeing in.This is us just before going up the 497-meter-high Shanghai World Finance Center which was built by the Mori Building Company.
I'm really afraid of heights, so I'm pretty nervous at this point...Akimoto is absolutely fine.
私もその一人です。
私は彼の柔道が大好きで、
昨年、彼が選手引退を決めたとき、こう言いました。
「オレはおまえの柔道のファンで、
試合を見るのがいつも楽しみで仕方なかった。
引退するのは寂しいが、
新しい人生も秋本の力を存分に発揮して欲しい」
まさに、今回の中国での柔道教室でも、
その力を発揮してくれました。
秋本、ありがとう！
The ever charming man, Akimoto
When I went to China for the judo classes, I was accompanied by Hiroyuki Akimoto (Japan Women's National Team Coach).
Coach Akimoto was the 73kg class champion of the World Judo Championships in 2010.
He's 8 years younger than me, but he was a comrade during my athlete days, competing together at the world-class level.
I was accompanied by Coach Akimoto in October of last year when we taught in Hong Kong, making this the second time we've taught overseas together.
He was extremely popular in both Shanghai and Nanjing this time around.
He is always cheerful, undisguised, and sincere wherever he goes.
Whether he's talking to children or adults, his attitude never changes.
I think that's what makes him so charming and draws everyone to like him.
I, myself, am not immune to his charm either.
I really love his judo, so when he announced his retirement as an athlete, I told him this:
I'm a fan of your judo, and I've always seriously looked forward to watching your matches. I'm sad to see you retire, but I hope that you show everyone what you can do your new lifestyle as well.
Well, he did just that at the judo lessons in China.
